A programme of Wild Game Recovery Trust

Game Changer NZ

Game Changer NZ connects hunters, butchers, donors, and food banks to turn donated wild game into quality meat for food banks.

Communities fund the butchering, hunters provide the animals, butchers prepare the meat, and food banks make sure it goes where it's needed.

How Game Changer NZ Works

We make it easy to support your local food bank with wild venison, sourced from volunteer hunters and processed by professional butchers.

You Donate

Choose your local food bank and contribute towards the $120 processing cost. Any amount helps — every dollar gets us closer to the next deer.

We Set Up a Hunt

Once $120 is raised, a registered WGRT hunter gets the green light to harvest a wild deer for that specific food bank.

Professional processing

Professional Butchery

The animal is delivered to an approved local butcher, professionally processed and packaged into 500g–1kg venison mince portions.

Food Bank Receives

The food bank collects the packaged venison directly from the butcher and distributes it within their community. One deer = ~200 meals.
